How it started…

The Reach for More Blog was founded by Donna after feeling called by God to do so. Since the founding of the blog, Donna’s daughter and daughter-in-laws have joined the writing team. Using their individual talents, the team strives to bring glory to God by serving those around them and encouraging all to reach for more of Jesus.

More about the Founder

Donna is a follower of Jesus and lover of His Word; a wife, mother, shosho (grandmother)….. a teacher, writer, missionary, speaker and worshiper. A lover of mountains and beaches, long walks and longer drives, she’s been more places than she ever dreamed of going and experienced more adventures than she went looking for. She loves her family, her church and the people she walks through life with; truth and grace have grown her while love and hope have carried her.

Donna has known great mentors all her life; the valuable role they played in her life taught her, through their example, to prepare herself to pour into those younger than her, who want more of Jesus and less of the distractions in the overwhelming culture of this world. It’s to this end, that Donna began the steady work of mentoring through personal interactions, online appointments and writing. Donna began writing professionally almost 20 years ago. She’s written two books, “Dandelion: A Warrior Beside Him” and “Between a Rock and a Holy Place”. She’s written children’s Bible study curriculum used by many churches and missionary families abroad.

In 2013, Donna and her husband Steve moved to Kenya to serve the people and teach at a seminary in northern Kenya. They founded Kweli Moyo Ministries. To learn more about their ministry work in Kenya , go to kwelimoyo.com . During their years in Kenya, Donna chronicled her emotional growth and spiritual refinement through writing. She found that the challenges she faced would either overwhelm her or compel her to reach for the robes of her Father and let Him grow her in His ways. Her writings were raw and heartfelt. These archived writings can be found at reachingfortherobe.com  . Her second book “Between a Rock and a Holy Place” shares some of her most read blogs.

The Taylors continue serving in Kenya each year, teaching and mentoring. In 2019, they moved  back home to America and found that social media had grown from being a way to stay connected with friends to a venue attempting to influence what people thought; sometimes accurately, but far too often, inaccurately impacting thinking and beliefs. They found too much opinion and not enough truth. Through prayer and Holy Spirit guidance Steve and Donna opted out of the world of social media and stepped into the arena of intentionally “Reaching for More” of Jesus. This originally began with a weekly writing from Donna, bringing Scripture and Jesus front and center to about 24 fellow hearts wanting More of Jesus. In 3 years time the writing team has grown from 1 to 4 with the writings shared in workplace devotional groups, church small groups, ladies groups, with recipients in several countries. Inspired by God’s word and beautiful mentors, some of which she will not meet until Heaven, Donna knows the value of written encouragements that inspire, exhort, and encourage. Some of her greatest lessons have come from Corrie Ten Boom, Elisabeth Elliot, Ruth Bell Graham, and Lettie Burd Cowman all of whom lived lives teaching/mentoring us to learn it carefully, live it faithfully, share it passionately, and write it accurately — because the world needs more of Jesus and less of everything else.
